I figured as much. I saw the smart oven at a store, and it was surprisingly well built. I didn’t think it was a toaster oven at first.
Thanks for confirming that the quartz heating elements are better. Sadly, I had to learn that the hard way
A perfect example of why I only buy equipment (when possible that is!) that has been reviewed and approved by ATK/CI.
@Ranger099 Full-size range-makers have those expenses too. Buying one of the most expensive options available is kind of the definition of luxury, but that wasn’t my original point, only that, holy cow, that’s a lot of money for “just” a toaster oven. Glad you like it though. A well-designed product is always a pleasure to use.
@DuaneEH If you think a product is priced only to recover component costs and not R&D, marketing, and distribution then you’re missing more than 2/3 the cost in most products. It’s a good value for the performance, if you don’t value it that’s fine – don’t buy it. Doesn’t mean it’s not WORTH it to someone else. Oh, if buying a $250 product demonstrates that price is no object then we certainly have different definitions of luxury.
@Ranger099 Ridiculous comparison? You can buy a full size range for $300. There is no way in heck there is $250 worth of components in a toaster oven. Yes, it’s a great toaster oven. Yes, it may arguably be the the best one. But it is exceptionally expensive. If price is no object for you, I wish I had your life.
@DuaneEH I own the winning oven. Worth every penny, and still cost a fraction of a full size range (ridiculous comparison/contention). It has the only elements on the market that can dial in a precise temp and hold it. Others AVERAGE the desired temp which means full power on and off until you hit the temp. Try baking with highly fluctuation temps. The oven also has a convection fan which is a marvelous feature for crisping and browning. Bottom line, you get what you pay for – always.
Great video! This reminds me of the time my mom bought a toaster oven. A few months later, it smoked up and that was the end of it.
Been thinking about replacing my toaster oven..I’ve heard lots of good things about the winning model ! hopefully the price will go down in the new year or will find it on sale in the future. As always I look to ATK for their reviews on all kitchen related items and am glad they are on our side the consumer. Thank you
I almost fell off my chair when the price of the winner was announced. How much is the least expensive full-size kitchen range? Whew, thank goodness you keep price in mind and had another option.
Hey, atk, I love these types of videos. Equipment corner ftw!
