@TheNorbert2345 Hey bud. I often think that we’re supposed to eat meat, due to the physical structure of our mouth. We dont have flat teeth like a cow for eating veggies, we have jagged teeth for ripping and tearing meat and anything else that goes in. The difference between us and chimps though is that chimps do that for survival. It is not systematic slaughter. It’s not because they have food all around them, but just really want a capuchin monkey instead. See the diff?
@TheNorbert2345 are we animals ? or are we smarter ?
@TheNorbert2345 are we animals? or smarter ?
@mattmenzies Trying my best mate.
@RunaroundStar Soy, Soy and more Soy. Protein is found everywhere. Soy here in the UK is rather cheap and can be found in the frozen isle as mince. I just replace the beef in my normal meals with it. Chicken is a little harder to replace so i have been using a lot of Beans and a lot of Tofu. Most of my Carbs come from Rice and Potatos now. It’s acctually a little cheaper as Red meat and Chicken is very expencive.
@AteoVegano Vegan Diet is going well, Finding more and more things to eat every day. 5 bean Chilli in Taco’s is a great one. Feeling much better for it. I’m mostly in it for the Fitness, health and Performance increases of being a Vegan But i have not Been hunting since making the change over. In some ways hunting works as effective pest control, But on the other hand it does seem rather hipacritical (excuse my spelling) so i am really not sure.
I believe every human being needs to see this, for hope of humanity and for the end of this disgusting business!
wow
@TooKyuForYou You should watch the Q&A to this. It’s clearly about reducing the suffering as much as you can and not eliminating it.
I don’t see anything about “this is just my opinion”. You don’t get anywhere by shoving your beliefs down everyone’s throats like that. You’re telling me I don’t have to change my religious views but at the same time are condemning and ridiculing my beliefs? I’m still a kid, not even thirteen, and I love animals so much but I don’t think you’re thinking. You’re ignoring the species (e.g.arthropods) that make up most of the animals in the world. If you squished an ant, you’d be a big hypocrite.
@DoulosofGod Humans are animals too, are you saying the laws banning people from molesting others, raping children, or murdering whoever pisses them off is religious and therefore must be unconstitutional??
@Fielder5757 how is the vegan diet going? are you going to keep hunting?
@RickeyWJackson You tell them!
@RunaroundStar Being vegan isn’t as expensive as everyone thinks. It’s actually rather manageable. My entire family switched and our grocery bill stayed roughly the same. The key is to buy fresh, buy organic, and buy things as you eat them. Don’t buy a months worth of groceries at a time, and know how much you need. If you need help finding some stuff, send me a message and I will give you a few ideas and things to look for.
@Fielder5757 I’d love to know of a cheap vegan diet for a bodybuilder. If I could find one maybe I’d become a vegan.
GREAT MOVIE MAN, I WAS SHOCKED CUZ I DID NOT THINK THAT FARMERS WERE SUCH AHOLES!!! THEY NEED HELP, LIKE WHY DOES THIS RAGE HAPPEN TO HUMANS? LIKE WHY DID THE GUY BEAT THE LIL CALF WAS HE FRUSTRATED OR WHAT???
I always used to think being vegetarian/vegan would mean it would be ‘hard’ to also be healthy.. What I didn’t do then was question my diet deeply, and when I did it infact almost naturally lead me to veganism Everything he says in this video seems to be right.. Tempted to show this to on of my friends(philosopher) but I don’t want him to think i’m being pushy.
To DoulosofGod, I don’t believe that you actually watched the video. Gary’s argument was that animal agriculture is in essence slavery and discrimination. By calling animal rights a religion you are mistaken. Religion implies faith, spirituality and the like.
Rights issues are not a religious concern, instead merely people striving for an environment of equality. LAWS DO NOT MAKE PEOPLE ETHICAL EDUCATION AND EMPATHY DO. Do you really think that people need laws to have compassion?
This video has changed my point of view completely. yet another vegan on board! yeah ive had to make a few drastic changes in my life, some sacrifices, but after listening to this speech i feel its worth it. im going to try to stick to my vegan diet for as long as possible :) you rock Gary Yourofsky! it would be awesome if you could do your speech at my school, conveniently located right next to a mcdonalds… to bad you’re banned from canada :(
So a special vegan friend sent me this video a few weeks ago..and I’ve been vegan since..and it feels great..^__^
he is a cultist. Animal rights is a religion, laws based on animal rights are based on religion, and that makes them unconstitutional, because first amendment states that there will be no laws that are based on religion.
@totallykeet
It’s good that you’re trying.
This is about 2 fold message.
What is best for you,
What is best for them.
If you notice, he’s also talking about junk foods.
Eat well, live well.
Remember this:
You are what you eat,
We reap what we sew.
Keep moving forward.
@Fielder5757
Gotta do it right Keet. Getting enough calories to do what you need to do.
@trekfoam
What part of animal fat do we need Trek?
You truly believe this do you? .
We are what we eat, Reap what you sew.
I hope the Gary Taubes book made him some pocket money.
Good luck to you.
@petyanca
Every animal has it’s own specific diet.
It’s normal and natural for cats to eat birds etc, sad as it is.
Human diet is that of a plant based diet. Gary’s video is one of the best.
@1man4RBE ahh, I think I am beginning to understand your perspective. Recommending, Facilitating but not dictating. This is very important and I completely agree with you that Dictation should be limited to one’s own personal life.
@EasternMerchant
You’re on the right track with:
“It should be within a person’s right to have an abortion if they want. Science would find the most efficient way to fulfill the desires of that “Individual”.”
BUT…
NEVER conflate science recommending (valid) or facilitating (valid) a person’s decision to abort, with dictating (invalid) whether a person can or must abort.
@pikso123 “Things that you need for what? If you think in pure surviving you need and bow and a knife, could live in a cave.”
Oh, so we can evolve our technology, but our needs will remain stagnant to merely surviving?
@nansir
Reread my post.
My proposition is that so long as you don’t scare the horses (in other words, so long as the matter is within your own sphere of personal autonomy and harms nobody else) then have at it.
@1man4RBE ” I would hope that we wouldn’t decide democratically whether abortion or euthansia for example is allowed.”
How else ought those issues be decided?
You’re joking surely? How would you enforce someone to comply with such decisions?
@1man4RBE ” I would hope that we wouldn’t decide democratically whether abortion or euthansia for example is allowed.” How else ought those issues be decided?”
1man4RBE, it should be within a person’s right to have an abortion if they want. Science would find the most efficient way to fulfill the desires of that “Individual” There is no “One Solution” for the people as a whole, we must cater to each person individually. Only Science & technology will make this possible.
@1man4RBE I did..and i still doing, but i don’t see any results.
VOY EN EL MINUTO 34:52
” I would hope that we wouldn’t decide democratically whether abortion or euthansia for example is allowed.”
How else ought those issues be decided?
By binary logic?
By Platonic Wise Rulers?
The People will – and should – decide such matters BUT only to the extent that any matter regarding a person’s self-autonomy is not the subject of dictation.
Let me make it simple and clear:
If it ain’t scaring the horses, have at it…
But…
If livestock are startled, The People sort it out.
@1man4RBE Well this the age old debate I suppose. I would hope that we wouldn’t decide democratically whether abortion or euthansia for example is allowed.
@nansir
You paint with too broad a brushstroke.
Dictators have absolute control of humans under their sway.
And neither science nor nature have absolute control of you or me.
Furthermore,
Something only becomes apparent (a subjective perception) to one who decides it is so.
Abortion is apparently a good thing to me because of my perception of the data I am aware of.
Many of my Catholic dear friends would beg to strongly differ with my perception of what is apparent.
Philosophy’s a bitch.
@nansir K to that! This youtube posting system is in mess.
But i think that science does not make decisions for anyone it just statisfies natural human curiosity. But i think every individual decides for himself will he or will he not use something.
@nansir You sad that we are curious. And i will tell you that we have come to the point where we need computers to calculate things that no man can calculate in a hundred lifetimes, to process so much informations that no man could process in a hundred lifetimes.
Mobile phone is also an very useful tool for information flow.
And i think you are an big city ”boy” so that’s why you think we can do without cars. No offense.
@pikso123
I congratulate you on your refreshing frankness in stating your preference for an elitist paradigm such as an “enlightened absolutism.”
In 482, an illiterate citizen, not recognizing Aristides, asked him to write the name Aristides on his ostrakon. When Aristides asked why, the man replied it was because he was sick of hearing him being called “the Just”.
A damning example of democracy.
BUT the RBE paradigm will ameliorate the chasm between genius and stupid.
K.N.O.W.L.E.D.G.E
like this if you think this intro was cooler than the last two.
@1man4RBE Science and our environment ( nature ) are dictators. We can modify our environment and we do that if we have to. The thing is we don’t really decide what we need, it just becomes apparent.
@nansir How do you mean who decided? Scientists decided that it is good idea which would solved problems in information processing and storaging, and than some capitalists sad: yeah it’s good thing let produce it for military, universities, census purposes, banks etc.
Same with cars, nobody wants to lose few days to get from point A to point B.
Same with the mobile phones.
Things that you need for what? If you think in pure surviving you need and bow and a knife, could live in a cave.
@nansir
“don’t science and our environment make our decisions for us?”
You’re conflating investigation, discovery and submission or recommendation with DICTATION.
Secondly,
We,as sentient beings, can – and do – modify or create our environment.
watched from start to finish thank you for this vid. i often talk to friends and family about my ideas most of the time i get called crazy, unrealistic, idealist.
this was awsome just a dam shame i cant make it on the 10th march 2012 in london
@1man4RBE Problem of democracy is if all people vote on every subject, all decisions would be ”mediocrit”. If genius man and 2 very stupid man vote on some matter the decision would be bad. That is problem with direct democracy, or to differently put it, people are different in all aspects.
If i could choose i would choose: enlightened absolutism.
Who on earth decided we needed computers, or mobile phones, or cars? We are curious, we learn and we build on what the previous generation learned, that’s how we progress. We play with what we know already and discover. We produce what we need. We don’t, as rule, produce things we don’t need.
@nansir It would be good that rich people spend their money on something self-sustaining that benefits community rather than keeping that money in banks doing nothing with it. That is basic problem, along with ”imposed” needs
@nansir We all make use of things, knowledge and experiences that made people before us. If we didn’t done so we would still living in caves.
I would agree, like many philosophers did, that that kind of ”technocracy”, ”aristocracy” would benefit all if it is guided by altruistic people. But problem with this is that it would very sourly and easily became tyranny after some time.
Capitalism would also be good if the rich people wouldn’t spend their money on golden yachts with whores
‘The RBE paradigm enables true, direct participatory democracy AND the means for sustainable abundance.’
I’m not sure it does, don’t science and our environment make our decisions for us?
