Thanks for explaining the importance of water temperature and time of brewing, most of the people I know, claim it doesn’t matter. Now we just need to assumed the coffee beans were properly roasted :D

Very good review on coffee makers. I have only ever made coffee through the manual pour-over method with a Melitta cone. From start to finish, it simply takes too long when it’s early in the morning. I need something that I can simply set up, walk away, and come back a few minutes later to have delicious coffee ready to drink. I will definitely look further into the Technivorm. It costs a pretty penny, but hey, if it makes comparable coffee to my pour-over method, then I’ll buy it.

Did ATK test adding boiling water to any of these coffee pots before brewing to see if they would hold a temp of 195 during the entire 6 minute brewing?

Has ATK approached anyone about making a coffee maker that boils the water FIRST? I can buy an electric kettle for $30. I’d love to see a totally new coffee maker design that boils the water first, then keeps the water at exactly 195 while drawing the water through a filter basket for exactly 6 minutes.
